1. What age group is the camp designed for?

The Explore Next Door summer camp is designed for children ages 10 to 12 years old.

2. What are the camp dates and hours?

The camp will run from June 16 to June 27, 2024, Monday - Friday, and will be closed on June 19 in observance of the federal holiday, Juneteenth. The camp operates daily from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

3. Where is the camp located?

The camp is located at Palomar College in San Diego County. The address to Palomar College is 1140 W Mission Rd, San Marcos, CA 92069.

4. What is included in the program?

We provide everything your child needs to have a fun and enriching experience! Our camp includes healthy snacks, lunch, a light breakfast, transportation, field trips, art supplies, and outdoor gear for all activities. While the camp is free, any donation is appreciated to support unexpected fees and program enhancements.

5. What types of activities will my child participate in?

Campers will participate in a variety of activities, including:

Outdoor excursions: hiking, swimming, surfing

Hands-on art projects: painting, sculpting, dance

Cultural explorations: music, storytelling, food

Personal development activities, such as mindfulness practices and career education

6. How many staff members will be present at camp?

We maintain a 1 staff to 5 student ratio to ensure that each child receives individual attention and support throughout their camp experience. Our passionate and experienced staff is committed to making sure your child has a safe and enjoyable time.

7. Are meals provided?

Yes! We provide healthy snacks, a light breakfast, and lunch every day. Our meals are nutritious and designed to keep your child energized for all the fun activities throughout the day.

8. What should my child bring to camp?

To have as much of a comfortable and enjoyable experience, we suggest your child brings:

A reusable water bottle (water fountains are easily available)Sunscreen and a hat for sun protection

Comfortable clothing and shoes for outdoor activities

A backpack for personal items

Swimwear and towel (for water-related activities)

9. What if my child has dietary restrictions or allergies?

We strive to accommodate all dietary restrictions and food allergies. Please make sure to include this information in the registration form so we can plan accordingly.

10. How will my child’s safety be ensured during field trips and activities?

We prioritize safety at all times. Our camp staff is trained in first aid and emergency response, and all field trips are fully supervised by staff. We follow strict safety protocols, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all campers.

11. Can parents visit the camp during the program?

To maintain a focused environment and ensure the best experience for the campers, we encourage parents to connect with the camp team for updates via the WhatsApp group chat.

12. How do I register my child for the program?

Registration can be completed online through our website. Simply fill out the required forms, provide the necessary information, and submit payment to secure your child’s spot.

13. How will I know if my child is registered in the program?

You will receive a confirmation email within 72 hours once your child’s registration is successfully completed. This email will include important details about the program, such as student drop-off and pick-up procedures, behavior policies, and a link to the WhatsApp group chat, which is the primary way to communicate with our team during camp hours. If you do not receive a confirmation email within 72 hours of registration, please contact us at info@bipocsupportfoundation.org to ensure your child's spot is secured.

14. What if my child has special needs or requires accommodations?

We strive to provide an inclusive experience for all children. If your child has special needs or requires specific accommodations, please contact us before registration so we can ensure we are fully prepared to support them during the camp.

15. Are there early arrival and extended care services?

Extended care is available for busy families seeking flexibility. Our team provides supervised and enriching activities for an additional fee during these times. Families can choose Early Drop-Off at 8 AM and/or Late Pick-Up at 4 PM on selected days.

You have the option to update your extended care schedule at a later time. Invoices will be sent based on the dates you select.
