Backpack Initiative

BIPOC Support Foundation brought the community together to gift school supplies to youth in San Diego North County. Not only did the Backpack Initiative provide needed supplies straight to youths, it will teach them a valuable lesson: that the strength of a community comes from individuals like them doing  what they can for others.

In August of 2021, BSF delivered 108 backpacks to graduating seniors of the Preuss School at UCSD. 400 backpacks went to families at the Vista Boys and Girls Club and to four Oceanside schools. Libby Elementary, Nichols Elementary, San Luis Rey Elementary and Laurel Elementary.

Volunteers from BSF and Hands On San Diego stuffed over 400 backpacks for children in grades K-5. The book bags were filled with school supplies, reading books provided by our partner, Words Alive, and ticket vouchers to a Moonlight Youth Theater fall production. Cal Coast Credit Union provided highlighter pens, San Diego County Credit Union donated over two-hundred backpacks. Donations from Maya’s Cookies, Ebin Smith & Associates, SoCal Green Screen, Brilliant Spectrum, and many others made it all possible.
